John Smedley, the leader of the Sony Online Entertainment team, says that at the moment, there is no limit placed on the number of gamers that will be able to play on the same server in the upcoming H1Z1, but that hordes of zombies will be present regardless of the final decision.

He explains in a Reddit thread that, “how many players per server? Who knows. As we add more land the number of people we can hold on a server goes way up. We’re excited. We have a ton of zombies for you to fight too. You’ll be seeing hordes… oh yes you will.”

H1Z1 will focus on a post-apocalyptic future that destroyed much of civilization and players will have to scavenge for resources and work together in order to be able to survive.

The company has already explained that building complex structures will be important in H1Z1 and the number of players that can inhabit the same server is crucial for the way social relationships will develop.

SOE says that it will offer the MMO via Early Access as soon as possible in order to test core mechanics and that the final release will be free-to-play and will be sustained via microtransactions.
