GyPSii, GeoSentric Oyj’s business unit, announced today that the availability of its mobile social networking application has been extended to more than 25 new Nokia devices, as well as on the BlackBerry Bold, Curve and Pearl handsets developed by Research in Motion. This way, GyPSii is now available for millions of new possible customers.

GyPSii provides users with a wide range of location-specific capabilities, as well as mobile lifestyle services, such as sharing user-generated content, search over mobile geo-location content, along with social networking and the option to view everything on a map. More devices and markets will now be able to benefit from the features of the GyPSii software through the release of its latest version.

“With enormous growth in the use of social networking on the mobile phone over the past year, it is important that GyPSii remains at the forefront of the industry and is available to as many people as possible,” says Shane Lennon, SVP Marketing and Product Management at GyPSii. “The support for new devices from two of the world’s premier handset manufacturers is further evidence of GyPSii’s drive to build our existing community and generate a social networking platform that is accessible to anybody, anywhere in the world.”

The application comes with support for Nokia devices including N96, N95-8GB, N95, N93/N931, N92, N85, N82, N81, N80, N79, N78, N77, N76, N75, N73, N72, N71, E90, E71, E70, E66, E65, E62, E61/E61i, E60, E51, E50, Touch Xpress 5800, 6220 Classic, 6210 Navigator, 6120 Classic, 6110 Navigator, 5700, 5500 and 5320XM. “GyPSii’s unique global infrastructure allows us to not only attract and retain members but also drive additional revenues for mobile operators and other GyPSii partners,” continued Lennon. “We are constantly reviewing ways to enrich the GyPSii user experience and extend our reach to new markets. These two announcements, on top of our agreements already in place with the likes of Samsung, Garmin and Intel, showcase GyPSii’s ability to scale quickly as we seek to establish a new form of in location-led mobile social networking.”
