Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow are caught on a romantic date in California

Back in March, Gwyneth Paltrow shocked the world when she announced very ceremoniously that she would be splitting up with husband Chris Martin, frontman for the band Coldplay. The rumors of what actually caused the split were numerous and ranged from the mildly decent to the highly outrageous. Now, the couple seem to be reconnecting.

In what can be only named “cautious recoupling,” Martin and Paltrow were spotted in a restaurant together, and eyewitnesses and photos confirm that they were anything but mad at each other. They giggled, shared photos and basically had a good time in each other's company, so just about everything that you' don't normally do with your ex.

The two were eating at Malibu Farm in California and they sat close together and giggled over something on a cell phone. The photos in question were snapped by a fellow dinner who later posted them on Instagram.

Looking at them, one gets the feeling of family bliss and not that weird former-partners vibe. The couple maintained that they would remain friends despite their separation, and it looks like they weren't lying either.

Everyone thought that it was just the generic thing that celebrities say in their official statements, trying to look like bigger people than they actually are, but for Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow, who are the proud parents of 10-year-old daughter Apple and 8-year-old son Moses, it turns out to be the humble truth.

If any of you can remember the official statement made by Paltrow at the time of her split on her lifestyle website Goop, you'll know that she said something in the lines of: “We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been.”

Who would have thought that Gwyneth was actually telling the truth? Either way, it's nice to see her tone down the crazy, because just last week she came out with an outrageous concept on the same lifestyle website, saying that water had feelings.

This was before she likened reading negative comments about herself on the internet to the experience of being in a war zone. Military personnel who actually served in war zones spoke in very unflattering terms about her comparison at the time.

It's not known who initiated the first contact, but Chris Martin explained in previous interviews that he considered they shared the blame for the split and that he regretted it. His latest album has a song called “Magic,” which many consider a sort of emotional goodbye to Paltrow.
