Romance rumors force Gwyneth Paltrow to refuse to open for Matthew Morrison in tour

Gwyneth Paltrow doesn’t want the negative media she’d get if she were to tour with “Glee” co-star Matthew Morrison. Amidst talk that they are more than just colleagues and perhaps good friends, the actress has decided to pull out of his upcoming tour.

Paltrow has proved she’s got good pipes with a series of special cameos on the popular TV series “Glee,” all of which have been welcomed warmly by fans.

Proving just what good an impression she made on both audiences and co-stars, Morrison reportedly asked her to open for him on a few US dates from his upcoming tour.

This came on the heels of several stories claiming that the two were more than friends, having started dating behind the back of Gwyneth’s husband ever since she first appeared on “Glee.”

She initially wanted to say yes, thinking this could boost her singing career, but she eventually decided against it because she came to the conclusion it would be “bad for her image,” given that she’s a married woman, a report cited by RTE.ie says.

“Gwyneth thought it would be bad for her image to go off on a US tour. She pulled out and Matthew has cancelled a number of his gigs,” an unnamed source well familiar with the situation says.

Not all is lost though for fans wanting to see Gwyneth and Matthew in concert, because a collaboration may happen sometime in the future.

“But he is still planning to come to London in June and they have plans to go out to dinner. She’s not ruling out performing with him in the future,” the tipster adds.

A rep for Paltrow contacted for comment denies that she pulled out of Morrison’s tour afraid that it would affect her image because of romance rumors.

“There are no plans for her to tour with Matthew. There were requests for her to perform at a few events but nothing was ever confirmed,” the publicist says.
