The actress and Stewart have been at odds for some time

It seems that when Gwyneth Paltrow decided to start her lifestyle website Goop and offer advice to women around the world on how to eat, sleep, dress themselves and generally how to conduct their life, she ticked off one of the greatest domestic goddesses in existence, Martha Stewart.

Following a series of outrageous comments on her website, Martha finally broke out and said in an interview last month, “She just needs to be quiet, she's a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn't be trying to be Martha Stewart.”

Stewart does not like Gwyneth Paltrow nor her website Goop

Clearly, Stewart thinks she's the reigning queen and Paltrow is simply trying to win her crown by copying her. She doesn't appreciate and she isn't afraid to tell the actress she's on to her.

The actress has now hit back in this on-going feud by saying at the Fortune's Most Powerful Women Summit, “No one has ever said anything bad about me before, so I'm shocked and devastated. I'll try to recover,” according to The Telegraph.

In what was clearly a mocking tone, since Paltrow is a very controversial person and she's used to having bad things said about her in the media, the actress added “You know If I'm really honest, I'm so psyched that she sees us as competition. I'm so psyched I really am.”

By saying this, Gwyneth effectively took all the power out of Martha's hands, by informing her that her acid comments have no effect on her and if she was trying to make her mad, she failed completely.

Then, in her typical pretentious manner, Paltrow went overboard with her statements and philosophically added “I think that when anybody criticises anyone it really is revealing more about where they are in time and space, as opposed to where you are in time and space. ”

While this wasn't as far-fetched as the time she said water has feelings, it does seem like Paltrow simply can't speak in plain terms. Let's not forget that even her divorce from Chris Martin, the Coldplay frontman, was not a simple split, it was a “conscious uncoupling.”

Similarly, her feud with Martha Stewart is not just a fight between two bitter women, it's a reflection about one's position in space and time. We'll let you digest that for a while before moving on because Paltrow is known for being that deep a person.

Paltrow just hired Martha's chief executive to run Goop, Stewart is still fuming

The reason why Martha Stewart's attacks seem to have increased both in number and intensity is because, last week, Paltrow hired Lisa Gersh as chief executive for Goop. Gersh was previously chief executive and president of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, so clearly she has intimate knowledge of the Stewart empire.

With Gerh's help, Paltrow hopes to beat Stewart in terms of popularity and that's why Martha is seething with rage. After all, she just lost her second in command to her biggest adversary. That slap in the face is always going to sting pretty badly.
