Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin have reportedly put divorce plans on hold, 3 months after going public with the decision to split

Just 3 months ago, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin announced that, after 10 years of marriage, they had decided to “consciously uncouple,” Paltrow’s new favorite fancy phrase for divorce. Since then, they have been spotted out together regularly but, according to a new report, this is more than a friendly split.

This is actually a reconciliation. Last weekend, the photo above emerged on Instagram: showing the two having an intimate, tete-a-tete lunch, and it was the first piece of “evidence” that the two stars may have changed their mind about the whole divorce thing.

Apparently, this is exactly what’s happened, the Mirror writes. Gwyneth and Chris are “consciously recoupling” because only after they decided to divorce did they realize what they actually stood to lose by it.

“It’s true they had problems but in the weirdest way this ‘conscious uncoupling’ situation has relieved the pressure on them. Gwyneth had ground rules about not immediately dating, respecting each other, keeping things happy for their two children and communicating throughout but it seems to have acted as a wake-up call,” a friend of the couple reveals for the tab under the promise of anonymity.

“Chris still lives with her, they are amazingly lovey-dovey together and she still wears her wedding ring. They may have consciously uncoupled a few months ago – but they seem to be recoupling now. No one will be surprised if they get back together,” the source continues.

It’s true that Gwyneth and Chris remained very close after the divorce announcement, even going on a family vacation right after it was released to the press. Neither has been seen without their wedding bands just yet so it could be that, unbeknownst to no one but them, they never really planned on splitting up, in the sense that they never lost hope of making it work.

They also kept up appearances in interviews whenever the topic of divorce came up. Chris, for one, seemed to be taking all the blame on himself in a BBC interview, in which he said that he forgot how to be in a relationship because he’d become too selfish and was taking Gwyneth for granted.

Despite their very honest efforts at playing it nice for the world, rumors about the “real” reasons of the split still made it out online. The most vicious claimed that Gwyneth was a very un-delightful mix of ice queen and tyrant who ruled the household with an iron fist, which included making up rules on anything from fashion to eating from which neither husband nor children could stray.

Admittedly, Chris asked for the divorce because he could no longer stand to always be told what to do, say, eat and even think.

Useless to point out, if there’s any truth to the report that they’re working on their marriage and might get back together, that was never the case.
