Ever since Scarlett Johansson was confirmed for the part of femme fatale Black Widow in “Iron Man 2,” her involvement in the project has generated mostly negative media. On this note, a new report in The Sun has it that she and co-star Gwyneth Paltrow can’t really see eye to eye, and this happens mostly because Scarlett commands the attention of the entire cast and crew.

Quite understandably, Paltrow is not happy about it, the tab claims, especially since she also starred in the first film and has somehow grown accustomed to the idea of being the main female star. Because of this, Paltrow is constantly in a bad mood, which makes it so that she’s very mean to the staff and the tension is so thick on the set of the film that one could easily cut it with a knife, as they say.

“Gwynny reckons her on-set rival is hogging the limelight and now sparks are flying between the movie’s two female leads.” The Sun writes. Further on, an unnamed source, reportedly right from the set of the film, is quoted as saying that “Gwyneth has become very frustrated with Scarlett. They come from different worlds and have completely different styles. Gwyneth has found Scarlett very demanding of the attention of the crew. It’s not a happy set.”

According to the same insider, it’s not with Scarlett that Paltrow was eager to work with, but rather with Emily Blunt, who was initially in negotiations for the part. Now that Gwyneth has tried and tried to forge some sort of friendship with Johansson and still failed, it has become clear to her that there’s no going about the problem than sucking it up and being as professional about it as she can, adds the spy.

“Gwyneth was looking forward to working with Emily Blunt, who was originally in line for the part, but it ended up being Scarlett. Gwyneth had to live with that and she has been very professional, but she and Scarlett haven’t developed a friendship on the shoot, which is almost at the half way point. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.” the source concludes by saying.

As is usually the case with such reports, a spokesperson for the movie studio behind “Iron Man 2” was not immediately available for comment.
