Gwyneth Paltrow is on a roll at the moment: the usually demure, style-conscious actress ditched the safe realms of high-couture fashion and showed the world her slightly risqué side by donning a series of ultra-short
dresses coupled with a dazzling suite of sky-high stilettos. Paltrow, who is currently hard at work promoting her new movie, "Iron Man", showed off a series of seriously daring footwear pieces and gave us all a peak at some of the elements we'll be seeing in next season's collections of sky-scraper stilettos. So, ladies, let's sit back and follow Gwyneth's style choices as she travels from New York to Berlin, Rome and London, hitting the red carpet in a variety of super-high shoes. I have a feeling this daring style is here to stay, so we might as well get to know what we're talking about.
Gwyneth put in her latest show-stopping appearance last night in London, when she donned a lace mini-dress accessorized with a pair of
five-inch Alexander McQueen stilettos. The charity screening took place at the Odeon Leicester Square, and Gwyneth – sans husband Chris Martin - was joined on the red carpet by her co-stars Robert Downey Jr. and Terrence Howard, as well as by director Jon Favreau. Earlier in the day, Gwyneth had showed off her taste for totting footwear by arriving at the Claridges hotels sporting a pair of double buckled peep-toe shoe-boots designed by Givenchy.
Only a few days before her London appearance, Gwyneth also managed to wow her Italian fans by showing up for the Rome premiere of "Iron Man" wearing a body-hugging mini-dress, to which she added a pair of nude lace-print stiletto heels, this time wearing the signature of Italian designer Giuseppe Zanotti. A day before visiting Italy, the American
actress also hit the red carpet in Berlin, opting for two more pair of ultra-glamorous, if killer, heels: a pair of black lace-up patent Burberry shoe boots during the day, and finally a pair of black patent Christian Louboutin stilettos at night. Prior to that, Gwyneth and her newfound glamorous style also rocked New York, and turned heads when she stepped out in a pair of gladiator-style boots.
Like it or not, one thing if for sure: we'd all better rest and take good care of our feet, because the killer stiletto shoes and boots are definitely IN this year. As much as I'd like to say that's good news, I'm sure our feet will soon find a way to let us know they disagree and resent the current fashion trends. Lucky for us, as long as we can maintain a vertical position, our inner fashionista will prevail and walk on through the pain. Hopefully.
