Hollaback Girl, the famous hit track released by Gwen Stefani is said to become the first song to have registered one million legal downloads ever.
The No Doubt singer will soon be awarded a special certificate, in recognition for reaching the milestone. The event will take place during her performance at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl on 21 October.
According to a Nielsen Sound Scan. report issued on September 28, Hollaback Girl, from Stefani's debut solo album LOVE ANGEL MUSIC BABY, had been downloaded 980,000 times, and continues to generate 14,000 downloads a week.
Meanwhile, Stefani has teamed up with Pharrell Williams for the first of two new solo singles.
Released on October 31, 'Can I Have It Like That' is the first cut to be taken from Williams' debut solo album, 'In My Mind', set for release on November 15.
'In My Mind' is divided into seven hip-hop tracks and seven R&B songs. The Stefani duet is the hip-hop single, along with second R&B single entitled 'Angel', to be released a week after the album, on November 21.
The album, which Williams has produced, programmed, mixed and played all the instruments on, was recorded in Virginia Beach, Miami and Los Angeles.
