It's been a while since we've heard Gwen Stefani on a new song. She's been busy with her TV career, as with having another baby, so we'll forgive her. But now the No Doubt singer has released her comeback song that was rumored to appear on October 19.

When you take into consideration the fact that this is her first solo project since 2006 “The Sweet Escape,” you realize that Gwen has been out of the game for years. The new project is called “Baby Don't Lie” and it sounds pretty good.

The hand claps and the sick base line reminds us of “Hollaback Girl,” but in this new song, Gwen shows off more of her vocal skills, something she's been clearly refining on the TV show “The Voice.”

While it's not exactly a club song, unless it gets remixed, the song is instead a mid-tempo mellow pop song in which Stefani plays with her voice in crescendos at the end of each line, creating an interesting effect that makes the song sound fresh.

While it's nothing chart-moving, the song is a decent effort that needs to be praised, considering Stefani has been out of the game and the recording booth for so many years. May this be the beginning of a new and prosperous part of her career.
