Gwen Stefani has released her first single in 8 years, in preparation for a new solo album, which is expected to come out in stores in December. “Baby Don’t Lie” is fun and upbeat, fresh and catchy, so at first, fans were thrilled that Gwen was back again.

But then the talk started online: had they not heart something similar before? Why yes, they had.

This is how come we’re talking today about the possibility that Gwen, together with producers Benny Blanco, Noel Zancanella, and Ryan Tedder, ripped off Swedish singer Ji Nilsson for “Baby Don’t Lie.” She has a song called “Heartbreak Free” that sounds very much like “Baby Don’t Lie.”

It’s not just the fans who believe Gwen is a thief: Ji herself has been very active on Twitter in this sense, posting messages in which she asks fans for their 2 cents (did she or didn’t she?), retweeting messages accusing Gwen of being a thief and joking about having released a song “that hasn’t been stolen yet.”

As you can see from the tweets below, she’s pretty much accusing Gwen of ripping her off without actually saying it. However, she doesn’t say if she’s considering suing Gwen or not for it. I would imagine she would if she really believed it.

You can listen to both tracks below and see for yourself what the fuss is all about. Personally, I see some resemblance, but it’s not as jarring as Ji makes it sound – but do drop me a line in the comments section below with your take on this new controversy.
