Guy Ritchie, as fans must know, is often described as a one-note director able to create solely niche masterpieces. Things are about to change this Christmas, though, when his latest film, “Sherlock Holmes,” drops in theaters and fans will see that he can do more than just British gangster movies, Producer Susan Downey tells StarPulse.

With a brilliant cast including Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, the film is already getting plenty of hype on the Internet and specialized media. The fact that it was directed by Guy Ritchie, a man of vision, as he’s occasionally referred to, only makes the anticipation that much greater. All the hype is warranted, Robert Downey Jr.’s wife, Producer Susan Downey, reveals in a recent interview, because the film is poised to become a hit with fans, critics and at the box-office.

“I hope so.” Susan Downey says when queried about whether she believes the film will get noticed for its own merits. “He [Ritchie] did an amazing job, on a scale that no one’s seen him work on before. He delivered. I think it’s going to surprise people. You’ll see the flare and you’ll see Guy’s touch on it, but it’s a whole different canvas.” Downey further explains.

Producer Joel Silver, also involved in the making of “Sherlock Holmes,” who has done blockbusters like “Die Hard,” “The Matrix” and “Lethal Weapon” before, feels the same, saying the movie will certainly top fans’ expectations. “It’s fantastic. I think it’s a triumph that really is fantastic.” Silver adds. As fans must know, the first scenes from the movie are set to be previewed at Comic-Con in San Diego, where Robert Downey Jr. will also be present to introduce yet another upcoming film, the much-anticipated “Iron Man 2.”

Speaking of Robert Downey Jr. and “Iron Man,” the actor recently compared preparing for the two films in terms of getting in shape, saying he literally had to starve himself for “Sherlock.” “There were times when I literally starved myself. It was really hard to get into the right shape for Holmes. I probably did as much physical preparation as I do for ‘Iron Man’ but at least with that I get to eat burgers!” the star was saying a while back.
