Folks who think of themselves as fairly adventurous, at least when it comes to being ready and willing to give wacky foods a try, might want to take some time off work and board a plane to Minnesota, US.

This is because a business in the town of Hugo in this state has some pretty bizarre things on the menu. Among these things is a sausage whose recipe includes gummy bears, Oddity Central informs.

The sausage goes by the name of the Gummy Bear brat. So, yes, it can be argued that its makers used up all their imagination when perfecting the recipe and had none left when the time came for them to also cough out a moniker.

Spencer Grundhofer, who founded Grundhofer's Old Fashioned Meats back in 1983, says that, taste-wise, the peculiar Gummy Bear is basically a combination of sweet and sour. Still, there are plenty of people who ask for it.

Then again, gummy bears are absofreakinlutely delicious and fun to eat, what with their pretty colors and adorable faces, so it’s no wonder they can make any dish perfect. “I like anything with gummy bears in it,” a little girl once told Spencer.

Interestingly enough, it looks like the founder of Grundhofer's Old Fashioned Meats did not come up with the idea to use gummy bears to make bratwursts all on his own. In a nutshell, he got pushed from behind by a friend.

Several years ago, this friend, a mechanic who goes by the name Joe Berglund, suggested that Spencer Grundhofer started making such bratwursts. At first, the meat enthusiast more or less politely declined this invitation.

However, the mechanic did not give up all that easily, and instead had several people show up at Grundhofer’s Old Fashioned Meats on a weekly basis and ask that they be served a sausage made with gummy bears.

Eventually, Spencer Grundhofer made several such bratwursts, and pretty much force-fed them to his friend. Much to his surprise, Joe Berglund was not disgusted by them. On the contrary, he very much liked them. In time, Grundhofer’s Old Fashioned Meats put these sausages on its menu.

Commenting on people's reaction to his Gummy Bear bratwursts, Spencer Grundhofer said, “It’s still weird. To put ‘em in the meat and you see all these gummy bears.” Furthermore, “Everybody is so intrigued, they have to try ‘em.”

Apart from these downright bizarre sausages, Grundhofer’s Old Fashioned Meats serves regular varieties such as Turkey, Chicken and Three Cheese bratwursts, and several other odd ones like Bloody Mary, Cherry Kool-aid and Blueberry.
