In Guitar Hero III, there's a track where Lucifer makes a short
guest star appearance. It's all nice and funny, with the guitar wielding Lord of the Underdark preying for the player as he becomes a real Rock God. But, of course, there
were some people that freaked out completely at the thought of children seeing an animated, colorful representation of the Dark Lord and decided that Guitar Hero was not a game that their kids could play. This, of course, led to much frustration on the part of the kids and to much discussion amongst Christian groups.
Now it seems that Digital Praise, a company which says that it is "Glorifying God through interactive media", is on its way to release a music simulator, which apparently is pretty similar to Guitar Hero but with a Christian twist. The game, called Guitar Praise: Solid Rock will feature only songs that are related to themes of worship from well known Christian rock bands. Names like Flyleaf, Petra, Whitecross, Skillet and Newsboys are mentioned on the developer’s site and there are a lot of tracks that will be available on launch.
The game package will include a wireless guitar and pre-orders are now open, with a price tag of 99.95 dollars attached to the title. It seems that you can also get a second guitar which can be plugged in and used as a base. Multiplayer modes are included in the game, with the possibility of two players engaging in a duel being offered, with power ups available that increase one player’s score while making the other have a hard time completing the song.
In an interesting move, the game will be available for both the PC and the Mac and will be launched sometime around mid-September; so, get ready to rock your heart out for Jesus.
Guitar Hero: World Tour and
Rock Band 2 will face some serious competition.
