Guitar Hero: On tour is the Nintendo DS sequel to the popular Guitar Hero. The game uses an attachment that plugs into the cartridge and allows players to rock out various color frets that move across the screen. The other screen is used to strum on the cords and employ the whammy bar. It retains all the previous modes of earlier installments, Career, Freeplay and practice, Star-power, the multiplayer option via two-systems and 25 different pop and rock songs.
So far, critics and gamers have showed a high appreciation of the game, the only complaint, voiced by both audiences, being the lack of any DLCs, and thus the limited amount of songs available, which drastically limits the gameplay time. Still, the one thing that made the Guitar Hero franchise stand out lacks for the DS verion, an that is the controller. Not being able to hold the make-shift instrument used as a controller takes all the fun out of pretending to be a rock star.
The title was published by Activision Publishing, Inc. and RedOctane, Inc., while being developed by Vicarious Visions, Inc. It's an action-simulation from a 3rd-person perspective. The game was released for the Nintendo DS on July 22, 2008.
