The Guitar Hero franchise has been extremely popular on all of the major consoles, registering massive sales for all of its three official versions and standalone expansion packs, which have given players the opportunity to play their favorite rock tracks in front of the TV. Although rumors existed about a Nintendo DS version of it, Activision said that this game couldn't be ported to the handheld console, because of the unique fender which was found on the guitar controller. However, the solution was offered by Red Octane, which developed a guitar grip and fender accessory that fitted into the Game Boy Advance slot found on the DS.

On Tour is designed to allow users to enjoy Guitar Hero on the DS, by playing in very much the same way a real guitar is played. A special attachment is employed to simulate the fret buttons, while the stylus is also used on the touch screen. It looks like the game might induce habitualness, but it could also prove to be an interesting twist on old Guitar Hero mechanics.

The game itself has the same Career option that players learned to love, and a pretty decent tracklist, which is sure to keep them entertained. There are six guitar player personas available, two of them designed specifically for the DS port. Unlockable content will feature costumes and new venues, where you can be a guitar God. The wireless capabilities of the DS will allow for two-player battles, and co-op play for those users who grow bored with the single player section.

HINTS

Guitar Duel: Flipped screen

Whenever you get your screens flipped in "Guitar Duel" mode, you can still strum the touch screen and get points, even though both screens are flipped.

Faster credits

Select the "Credits" option from the main menu. Strum the touch screen to make the credits scroll faster.

Easy Star Power

Instead of having to shout out "Rock" into the microphone, just blow into it and your Star Power will be activated.

Lars Umlaut reference

When you get hit by the Signature battle item in a Guitar Duel, and the fan asks for you to sign his or her book, Lars Umlaut's name will be shown on the top of the book.
