Besides all the sequels the Guitar Hero had for the big consoles, the game also came to the Nintedo DS in the form of Guitar Hero: On Tour. This title aims to offer the same thrill of the rock star, but this time it is a simpler, but portable version. The DS makes use of an attachment that is plugged in through the cartridge slot that enables players to hit the proper color frets that slide across the screen and use the second screen to strum the chords and utilize the whammy bar. The game employs a sideways perspective to deliver the action.
The DS release contains the game modes seen in the other series, like Career, Practice and Freeplay, but also Star Power, and a multiplayer mode for up to two players, via separate systems. It offers 25 songs, pop and rock, from the last few decades.
The game was published by Activision Publishing, Inc. and RedOctane, Inc. and was developed by Vicarious Visions, Inc. It was released on July 22, 2008, earned a PEGI rating of 3 and is a Rhythm game. Guitar Hero: On Tour was received very well by critics and fans alike, and won high marks on reviews.
HINTSGuitar Duel: Flipped screenWhenever you get your screens flipped in the "Guitar Duel" mode, you can still strum the touch-screen and get points, even though both screens are flipped.
