The development team at FreeStyleGames and publisher Activision have just announced a launch date of October 20 for Guitar Hero Live, and the two companies are also ready to offer more information about the GHTV game mode and the way it is designed to revolutionize the music game genre.

The experience is designed to appeal to those who want to get a larger selection of songs to play, with channels that are always on and continuously deliver new tracks for gamers to simply jump into the video and simply jam along.

Guitar Hero TV allows players to put together their own custom programming, and there's extra Premium Content to unlock, like concert footage, as long as gamers manage to hit specific goals in challenges.

The official announcement explains that "You’ll also earn in-game currency, which can be used to play any song in the GHTV catalog on-demand. In-game currency can also be used to acquire vanity items, like player cards or custom note highways. If you really love a particular song and want immediate access, you can also spend real money to unlock it right away."

GHTV is also a way to improve the social interactions between those who love Guitar Hero as a series.

Two players can go head to head or cooperate both locally and online.

Guitar Hero Live will also include Hero Powers

The classic Star Power concept from the previous installments in the series is replaced with a new concept which allows players to get ahead of the competition, including a boost that delivers more points and currency and another than increases difficulty for the opponent.

Guitar Hero Live can be played on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, the Nintendo Wii U and older home consoles, and an iOS version is also in development.

Activision has chosen to introduce a re-designed guitar for its music title and gamers will have to buy all new songs for it, with an initial line-up of 20 tracks for the Live mode.

The company says that interactions with the crowd and band mates have been extended in interesting ways.

Competitor Rock Band 4 is being introduced by Harmonix on October 6 and is designed to support all the instruments launched for the series so far and all the tracks that gamers have already picked up.
