Guitar Hero III Patch 1.3 Optimizes Performance on Low-Specced Macs

Aspyr Media has released patch 1.3 for players of Harmonix' Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. Although it specifically targets laptop users, GH III: Legends of Rock Patch 1.3 allows better performance on low-end configurations and smoother gameplay. A note-worthy addition is the battery meter icon that now displays the remaining battery charge on supported laptops.

Patch 1.3 for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock introduces mainly a new Front Row Cam option to improve performance on low-end machines, providing a smoother gameplay experience. "This is an official update for Guitar Hero III. This patch will update any previous version of Guitar Hero III to version 1.3. This update is recommended for all users," Aspyr notes. Laptop specific optimizations have been introduced for better performance, specifically that battery meter icon which enables gamers to see the remaining battery charge they have left (works only with some laptop models).

Requirements call for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock installed on your Mac.

GH III players might also want to look into Guitar Hero Speed Booster, a small application set to improve the speed of your game by increasing the number of FPS. What GH3 Boost does is that it replaces in-game backgrounds with a black image, thus increasing the game speed. Gamers should note that the app makes a backup of 131 MB the first time you run it. The program will appear as non-responding for around 10 seconds, as it does not display a loading screen. Of course, if you don't like the changes, you can always revert back to the original state with a single click.

GH3 Boost requires Guitar Hero III installed and patched to 1.1. GH3 Boost (Guitar Hero Speed Booster) 1.2 is the final version of the application, which fixes an issue with the reset button.
