Developer Arc System Works has just revealed that Ramlethal Valentine, a boss character from Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, will become a playable character in the arcade version's next update.

The versatile character will expand the already large pool of playable characters in the popular fighting game when its next update hits, sometime during April.

Ramlethal Valentine originally made an appearance as a boss in the arcade mode of Guilty Gear Xrd, while also being a pivotal element in the game's story. The character is related to another fictional figure in the series, from Guilty Gear 2: Overture, as Siliconera informs.

The new boss lady will have a slew of abilities to make short work of her opponents, including the use of her familiar and connecting her two swords to work as a single weapon for added range. She can use her swords for both connected- as well as dual-wield attacks, with the caveat that her connected-swords attacks, while packing more of a punch and allowing increased range, will be considerably slower and will leave players open to counter attacks.

The good news is, as any respectable boss, she won't be just a one-trick pony, as she also has other skills up her sleeve, such as her special grab move, which can be used together as a combo with her great sword.

Oh, and she can also shoot giant lasers from her sword, which do a lot of damage even among guards. Not bad, huh? That's what you have to resort to when your opponents are named Sol Badguy, Slayer and Faust.

Additionally, the April update will also come with a play data log, where players will be able to check out various info regarding their profiles, indicating numerous statistics such as rankings, the number of times certain special moves have landed as opposed to the total number of times they have been used, and other data from the game's different modes.

The feature will be used through the Guilty Gear Xrd Player's Guild R-Code system, where players can register and then use the tool to see the areas where they can improve in order to become better fighters. Arc System Works has not yet confirmed the addition of the data log to the console version of Guilty Gear Xrd, although it is highly likely it will also be implemented there.

Furthermore, the Player's Guild feature also supports a voice-comment system that allows players to select different voice comments each time they log into their accounts, including the option to have various characters wish them a happy birthday on the occasion.

Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- is currently only available in Japanese arcades, but the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions will also show up later this year.
