Guild of Dungeoneering is the work of Irish developer Gambrinous and is expected to arrive on PC, Mac and tablets sometime this year. The game will be published by Versus Evil and will be showcased at PAX South between January 23 and 25.

Those attending the event will be able to get their hands on a demo of Guild of Dungeoneering, but first things first. This is a turn-based dungeon crawler with a twist, meaning that instead of controlling the hero, players will have to build the dungeon around him.

In order to do that, you use the cards drawn from Guild decks. It may feel weird at first, but you will actually have to lay down rooms, monsters, traps and loot.

You hero, which you do not control, will decide where to go and what monster to fight. The goal seems to be to prepare your hero to take on the dungeon's overlord. Depending on how strong your hero becomes, he will have more chances to defeat the ultimate boss.

Manage your Guild and deck of cards in between dungeons

But that's not all about Guild of Dungeoneering, as players will be able to manage their Guilds in between dungeons, build new rooms to attract new classes of adventurers and expand their decks of cards with better items and events.

“The gameplay itself is such a simple premise on the outside but with solid depth beneath the surface. It also has one of the most important elements needed to make a game successful – fun replayability which has been proven by the daily play sessions the team and I have been having over the holiday break!” said Steve Escalante, general manager of Versus Evil.

It's also worth mentioning that Guild of Dungeoneering has already gone through Steam Greenlight program and will be launched on Valve's digital distribution platform this year.
