Guild of Dungeoneering is an upcoming indie game that instead of going the normal route of being just another roguelike, opts to present a more interesting experience.

As such, it's a dungeon exploration game where you don't get direct control over the adventurer, but instead, you lay down dungeon tiles, one room at a time, including treasures and monsters, and the adventurers then proceed on their own.

Of course, your goal is still for your character to explore, level up, slay monsters, find treasure and avoid death, but you'll be doing it in a much more subtle way than just mashing the controls until something dies.

The game is currently in alpha, and is already playable. The upcoming deconstructed roguelike is available for pre-order on the Guild of Dungeoneering website, offered at 50 percent off and giving full access to the final game as well as early access to the current and all future beta builds.

If you want to catch a glimpse of the gameplay, you can check out the trailer below, showing the two-man team's progress so far. They even have a celebrity guest.

Yes, the trailer is voice acted by none other than Gollum himself, hiding in a barrel after being horribly mutilated in the molten lava at the end of the movie, and the game looks like a kind of virtual representation of the popular card game Munchkin.

All joking aside, it looks genuinely charming and its concept is very intriguing. Guild of Dungeoneering is also on Steam Greenlight, in need of votes if you deem it worthy of attention, which it just might be.
