The MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) genre is a very outstanding one, with almost each and every title having a very loyal fanbase that supports it wholeheartedly and is eager with anticipation when it comes to the release of new updates or even new iterations.

While Blizzard's World of Warcraft has shown us that things can go extremely well with its second expansion for the game, entitled Wrath of the Lich King, which broke a lot of sales records, other, less popular titles also have extremely loyal fans that worry when bad news surface about their favorite companies.

Such is the case with NCsoft, the creator of hit online game Guild Wars, which has announced layoffs at several of its studios, prompting a lot of concern to build up in the user base of the MMORPG, as to when the sequel to the title will arrive and if its development would be somehow affected. Now, a representative of ArenaNet, the studio in charge with the development of Guild Wars 2, has stated on the game's site some kind words to clear things up with the fans.

“You've all seen announcements about restructuring at NCsoft West, and it's natural to wonder whether that restructuring impacts ArenaNet's Guild Wars 2 development,” Mike O'Brien, a representative of ArenaNet, said. “In fact, the reason NCsoft West is restructuring itself is so that the company can put all of its focus into its top-tier games like Guild Wars 2. Our team continues to grow, and has the strong support and financial backing we need to achieve our goal of making Guild Wars 2 the best online role-playing game ever created.”

In terms of the release of Guild Wars 2, O'Brien maintained that the game didn't have a concrete release date, so we can't really talk about a delay. Sadly, now we can't even take into account even a remote release date, but, most probably, fans will need to wait until next year to take hold of the new Guild Wars experience.
