Video game developer ArenaNet is constantly adding more content to Guild Wars 2 and now the studio is ready to reveal a major change to the core mechanics of the MMO, which will allow the fans to become more immersed in the world of the title.

A new first-person camera is in the development stages at the moment and will be introduced in March, and gamers who will continue to play from a third-person perspective will also get a chance to tweak the field of view and other options that will improve their experience.

In Guild Wars 2, gamers will be able to use two new options, horizontal position and vertical position, to move the camera as they see fit.

A new concept called collision sensitivity is also introduced and will give players control over behavior linked to objects and the snap in action.

ArenaNet states, "When this feature ships, it will be automatically enabled in your camera options; if you’d like to disable this new functionality, simply move the slider all the way to the left and the old functionality will be restored."

The development team also explains that the first-person view for Guild Wars 2 can be used at all times with no restrictions and gamers only have to zoom in all the way on their character in order to activate the option.

After the March update, the camera will also always focus on the head of the character the gamer is controlling and a new Adjust Camera to Character Height toggle is also added.

A look at how the new options will work in Guild Wars 2 is offered in the Twitch stream that features gameplay programmer Branden Gee.

Guild Wars 2 is a successful MMO that uses an innovative business model

The ArenaNet game does not ask the player to use a subscription model, but it is also not free-to-play.

Gamers have to pay for a copy of the game and they can then experience it for as long as they want, with a special store offered for them to get access to more character options.

ArenaNet is aiming to deliver constant story updates for Guild Wars 2 via its Live Seasons and it is also working with the community to improve the core mechanics in the long term.

The leader of the MMO genre remains World of Warcraft, which is unique in its ability to draw in millions of monthly subscribers.
