ArenaNet has confirmed that in the upcoming free September Feature Pack update it's going to bring the Global Guild system to the North America and European regions of its Guild Wars 2 online role-playing game.

Guild Wars 2 came out some time ago, and its different way of delivering the traditional MMORPG experience by charging a one-time fee instead of monthly subscriptions has certainly gained it a loyal following.

Since then, developer ArenaNet has rolled out plenty of updates for the game, offering lots of new story content but also plenty of gameplay features, such as the megaserver system that allowed the game's world to stay populated by pooling together players from across different realms.

Now, after tweaking the system ever since its debut in April, ArenaNet has confirmed on its website that it's going to add a major new feature to it, in the form of Global Guilds. The mechanic is already live for the Chinese region, and through the upcoming free September Feature Pack update, it's also going to debut in North America and Europe.

Instead of having a guild on each different world, the new system allows a guild to be present on all of them with shared amenities like a bank or its merits.

"When we released the megaserver system, we told you that we’d be focusing on guilds for future improvements, and now we’re ready to introduce the global guild system to North America and Europe! Instead of having a separate guild chapter on each world, everything in your guild—your bank, merits, influence, and upgrades—is now global and shared across all worlds."

The actual combining process for guilds will gather up all the merits earned by the guild's chapters and can even go over the limit of 250. However, if it's surpassed, merits can no longer be earned until the total goes below that threshold.

Upgrades unlocked by guilds will be grouped up and those earned multiple times will see their influence and merit cost be refunded. Consumables are also going to be gathered and their usual limits no longer apply until they go back under their regular thresholds.

Guild boosts that are currently enabled will be returned to the guild inventory so players will have to re-enable them.

The guild vault transition system is a bit more complex, so check out the detailed explanation below.

"The guild vault from the world that had the highest number of slots will become your global guild vault. If your guild had the same number of slots on multiple worlds, it’ll pick the one with the most items. However, the items from other worlds’ banks will not be lost—instead, their contents will be put into extra slots, which will only be available to withdraw from and will disappear once empty."

The new Guild Wars 2 Global Guild system should go live at the beginning of September.
