The development team at ArenaNet in charge of Guild Wars 2 announces that it is now launching a new content update for its MMO, called Gates of Maguuma, which is designed to introduce the second season of the Living World feature of the title.

Initially, gamers will have to investigate a weird situation that is arising in the western reaches of the Brisban Wildlands, and characters will have to meet up with already prepared Seraph forces in the town of Brisban in order to get more clues.

The main content added to Guild Wars 2 in Gates of Maguuma includes a variety of new quests for gamers to deal with, and there are plenty of new rewards for those who are planning to experience all of them.

The developer explains that one of the quests will feature a long-known faction, with The Zephyrites in need of aid.

“After they departed from the Labyrinthine Cliffs and the festivities there, the Zephyrites met with trouble in the air. You’ll need to find the ship and its inhabitants and figure out what went wrong,” ArenaNet states.

Marjory, Kasmeer, Braham, Rox, Taimi and Scruffy will join the player's character in their investigation, and teamwork will be required for those who want to find out the cause of the problems affecting the game world.

The studio adds, “The commotion in the Maguuma region has garnered the attention of the notorious Inquest. As you venture through Dry Top, keep an eye out for Inquest devices and operatives. They’ll stop at nothing to reach their nefarious goals, so you’d best be prepared for a fight!”

All gamers who complete the entire new storyline included in the first episode of the second season of Living World for Guild Wars 2 will be able to get a series of new Achievements, which are designed to test the skills of even the most capable MMO fans.

The quests also carry a variety of new rewards, including unique crafting materials like Ambrite, designed to offer bonuses for a range of items, and cactuses, which can be used for cooking.

New Adventurer’s Spectacles and Adventurer’s Scarf that can then be combined to create the stylish and functional Adventurer’s Mantle are also part of Guild Wars 2.

The MMO is offered as a core retail package which requires no monthly subscription to play, and the developers at ArenaNet have pledged to support it in the long term with both new Living World chapters and bigger expansions.
