With all the criticism Marvel has been getting this past week for its plans regarding some of its biggest superheroes (Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America), it’s good to see that it’s also getting some positive feedback for its endeavors in film. “Guardians of the Galaxy” will be a hit, early reviews are saying.

The film, starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista, Nathan Fillion, Josh Brolin, Benicio del Toro, and Djimon Hounsou, doesn’t come out until August 1 but early screenings have already taken place all over the US.

Usually, members of the press with access to these screenings are asked to sign an NDA barring them from revealing essential plot details or even from publishing their reviews with so much time in advance of the official premiere.

However, there’s no stopping them from making their opinion heard on social media, and in these circumstances, a 140-letter film review is better than no review at all. Of course, it’s not just the fans who stand to win from this because Marvel is getting free publicity which, in turn, helps buzz around the film build up.

Collider has a collection of tweets sent out right after the screening and most reviewers seem to agree that “Guardians” is the best Marvel movie so far: it’s got solid performances from the cast, a good script, and is well directed. It’s fun and serious in all the right places, it’s very entertaining and action-packed.

If we’re to believe word online, “Guardians” might actually be better (more fun, more enjoyable, more action-packed) than “Avengers.” If that turns out to be the case, Marvel’s risk with this group of lesser known superheroes has surely paid off.
