Although Grundig is not exactly one of the main players on the TV sets market anymore, the company has launched quite a few interesting devices lately, including several HD-enabled units. And that's exactly the type of device you're about to see as follows, namely the Davio 7 model, presented in August 2007, a portable LCD TV set that provides a few very interesting features for those people who want to watch their favorite TV programs wherever they might be.

Thus, as any
modern portable TV set, the Davio7 has been fitted with a built-in DVB-T tuner with a passive magnet antenna, used for receiving digital TV stations. However, the tuner (MPEG-2 compatible) does a lot more than simply tuning in to certain programs, as it also supports a teletext feature and allows users to check out the scheduled shows via EPG (electronic TV guide).

Even if we're talking about a portable device here, that doesn't mean that Grundig has not gone to great lengths in order to provide users with the best possible viewing experience. Thus, the portable TV set sports an 18-cm (7-inch) Active Matrix TFT-LC display, which provides a 720 x 576 resolution at a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio. Moreover, the display also offers quite a good level of brightness (around 500 cd/m2), as well as a contrast ratio of 300:1.

The Davio is also quite versatile as far as viewing options go, since it features 130 degrees vertical and horizontal viewing angles. It allows users to listen to audio either via the built-in speakers or via headphone, since it sports a 3.5 audio-out jack. Moreover, it is quite portable, as it measures around 22.5 x 12.6 x 2.8 cm, at a weight of around 600 grams, and it is powered by a Li-Polymer battery which provides an overall functioning life of around 2 hours.

The Davio7 from Grundig will retail for around $241, which is a relatively OK price to pay for such a device, but, unfortunately, the company has not released yet any details regarding the moment when the portable LCD TV set will actually be available on the market.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
