The code-savvy bunch behind the Growl Project have released a new version of the popular notification system application for Mac users, particularly targeting Mavericks installations.

Growl displays notifications for your favorite apps in a way that is suitable for your taste. The customization options are endless, making Growl a worthy rival of Apple’s Notification Center.

If you’re using Growl on Mavericks and the notifications are displaying errors, not to worry, because the new Growl 2.1.3 fixes those bugs.

According to the developers, the update fixes an issue on OS X 10.9 where sending notifications to Growl would result in logging "(null) doesn't have enough information…" whenever Growl receives an incoming packet.

Also new, the on/off slider is more accessible now, and the selection of the default plugin is improved.

You can download Growl 2.1.3 and use it for free on any Mac with a 64-bit processor. Pretty much any configuration works.
