Grow Home, the surprising small game project recently revealed by Ubisoft, is now available on the PC, and in honor of this achievement, a special launch trailer has just been released, alongside some fresh downloads.

Ubisoft may make most of its profit from new iterations in huge franchises like Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, or other such things, but the large publisher hasn't shied away from supporting its developers while they focus on smaller, all-new experiences.

This initiative has already produced touching titles like Child of Light or Valiant Hearts, and now the latest game has just been released, in the form of Grow Home.

The game is now available for download on the PC platform via the Steam or uPlay digital distribution services.

In honor of this achievement, the game has also received a launch trailer, showcasing more sequences from the innovative experience, not to mention the basic story that focuses on a robot that needs to grow its star ship and go back to its alien home.

The game had an interesting creation process

Ubisoft has also shared some details about the creation process, which saw a team of eight people from the Reflections studio start to make an experimental tool that explored procedural animation. However, as things progressed, the developers quickly realized that the tool can be used in a full-fledged game.

"We created the opportunity for us to experiment on a smaller scale," Producer Pete Young tells Ubiblog. "We had some very challenging restraints and our ultimate goal was to create something new and completely different."

As such, players can control the BUD (Botanical Utility Droid) by using a gamepad's trigger buttons to control its two limbs while it climbs onto the various plants. Just like in a previous Ubisoft title, I Am Alive, its grip isn't all-powerful, so players will have to plan out their climb and constantly stay on the move.

Don't worry about falling, however, as the droid features a flower parachute that can be deployed to soften its landing.
