As the market for online radio is becoming somewhat crowded, albeit not exactly mature, the popular music streaming service Grooveshark has added some social media tools to stay ahead of the pack. The site is now offering a Facebook app as well as a Wordpress plugin and a Tinysong API to make it a lot easier for its users to share the music they love.

Grooveshark comes with a large song selection, 10 million and counting, and has been favored by many for its simplicity and features. The new tools should prove very popular with those who wanted an easy, legal way of embedding music on their site or profile.

The Facebook application will allow users to search for a song they like and then add it to their profile or even share it with friends. Everyone viewing the profile will be able to listen to the song so the application is likely to spread through Facebook at a rapid rate. There are other Facebook apps with similar features but where Grooveshark really shine is in its simplicity. All it takes to share a song is searching for it and then adding it to your wall. And with 200 million plus Facebook users the app might prove very successful for Grooveshark.

The Wordpress plugin also has some very interesting features. After it is installed you will be able to search for music inside the post admin page as well as view favorites or playlists. But the best part is that adding music to your every post has never been easier and can be done from the editor just by clicking the plus sign.

Grooveshark also released a Tinysong API for developers, which is a URL shortener service from the website and is mostly aimed at sharing music and other things on Twitter. With the API developers will be able to use all of the service features on their own sites.
