The online music market is getting more crowded by the second and, with big players like Google and Apple making moves, it would seem that there's little room for startups looking to make a stand.

Grooveshark is one of the more under-appreciated music streaming services but the startup has been plowing away, despite lawsuits and recently being booted out of the App Store.

While the big news about Grooveshark has been the iPhone app, now banned from the store, the site itself also got a major update last week bringing a couple of new features and a revised user interface.

The site is now getting more social, with Facebook integration and a couple of home-grown features as well.

"A few of you have noticed some changes to Grooveshark flickering on and off over the past couple of days. Well, they’re here!," Grooveshark announced.

The radio feature is more visible as the main stations are now listed in the left sidebar along with the users' playlists, library and so on. In fact, the left sidebar has seen the most changes.

The My Music section now houses Favorite tracks as well as the uploaded tracks and saved playlists.

Another interesting new feature is search suggestions which, as the name implies, aims to make it easier to find the track or band you are looking for without going through several steps.

The social features come in two flavours. First, there's the Facebook integration. This enables you to post your activity on Grooveshark, like favorite tracks and playlists, to Facebook and also to find which of your friends may also be using Grooveshark.

But you don't need Facebook to see what your friends are up to. In the new Community tab the tracks your friends favorite or share with each other as well as what songs they listen to the most.
