Double Fine Productions releases Grim Fandango Remastered today, the reinvented classic point and click adventure game from Lucas Arts, and its launch trailer showcases some of the action and the spruced-up visuals.

The dark comedy has a distinct neo-noir feel to it, which, combined with the Day of the Dead visual styling, makes for a very unique atmosphere. The writing is slick and the story compelling, and the original game is considered one of the best adventure video games ever made.

Lucas Arts released Grim Fandango back in 1998 and since then many people have been pining for a re-release. Original game director Tim Schafer's new studio, Double Fine, decided to enable old-timers and newcomers to the game to go through and enjoy the story of Manny Cavalera.

Manny is a sort of travel agent to the dead, and the story follows four years in his afterlife. He stumbles upon a criminal plot and sets out to undo the evil, meeting a ton of colorful characters during his adventure.

Double Fine is also working on the second act of Broken Age, due out sometime this spring, alongside the full game's retail release.

Grim Fandango Remastered is coming out today, January 27, headed to Windows PC, Mac OS X, Linux, and the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita gaming devices.
