Griffin Technology, maker of iPod accessories, ships today two new speaker systems: Amplifi and Journi. This is actually their first step in the expanding portable media player speaker business.

Journi is a rugged personal mobile speaker system that docks your iPod. It comes with an innovative Wrapstand exterior that protects the speaker as well as the iPod, and flips open to create its own stand. The docker features an adjustable docking bay, high-efficiency internal Lithium-Ion batteries that recharge using the AC adapter or any other PC-powered USB port.

It also comes with a remote that offers track selection and playback volume control, while SRS Labs' SRS WOW digital signal processing boasts rich bass response through the two-way speaker system. It also sports a 1/8 -inch (3,5 mm) stereo input jack for non-dockable iPod models. Journi is priced at 130$.

The Amplifi (pictured) is beefier than the Journi and features two front-firing 2.75 inch high/midrange neodymium speakers and a 5-inch downward-firing woofer. It has a wood-based construction and comes with an acoustically tuned enclosure.

The 2.1 sound system accepts audio input from sources using its built-in 3.5 mm input jack. The dock also offers iPod integration via a convenient docking port that's located on top and 6 adapters for any iPod model (from the iPod Minti to the fifth-generation of iPods with video). There's also an IR remote for volume control and tunes selection. Amplifi comes along with both US and international plug adapters and sells for 150$.
