Griffin Technology plans to release a gaming accessory for iOS devices, according to a recently published FCC filing spotted by iLounge. The PartyDock allows users to dock their iPad or iPhone 4 and use four wireless remotes to control games specifically tailored for the device.

In response to the site’s coverage of the FCC finding, Griffin Technology confirmed the existence of their upcoming product.

However, the company notes on its web site that more clarification is in order.

“Thanks to our FCC filing yesterday, the cat's out of the bag on our new PartyDock media and game dock for the iPad and iPhone 4,” Griffin states.

“Seems as though there is a little misinformation out there, so we hope to clarify it,” it claims.

First of all, the company acknowledges that talk of being able to play games designed specifically for PartyDock is accurate.

“Up to four can play party and casual/family games from your iPad or iPhone on your TV,” Griffin explains.

These specifically-coded titles will be available alongside the hundreds of thousands of games on the iTunes App Store.

However, only the games designed or adapted to the platform will work, Griffin says.

“Second, you can watch movies and videos. It works great for YouTube viewing also. PartyDock supports composite and component video,” the company further shares with those visiting its web site.

“Third, PartyDock is great for viewing photos and slide shows or listening to music. And of course, it charges,” the list of features continues.

Finally, the device is said to be extremely easy to set up, having been specifically designed for social gatherings, Griffin says.

“It takes no time to start playing. PartyDock comes ready to play with three free mini-games and one full-version game, four controllers, cables and power supply,” adds the accessory maker.

Those who wish to learn more about Griffin’s PartyDock can sign up for the company’s mailing list here. Currently, these are all the details available so far on the product.

Developers looking to create games for the PartyDock are also invited to apply for receiving instructions on how to code the software.

Griffin Technology designs and manufactures cases, chargers, FM transmitters and other solutions for iDevices.
