Codemasters has just confirmed that Grid Autosport, the next iteration in its racing franchise, will receive a series of varied DLC packs, ranging from free textures improvements on PC to car collections and mini expansions with different themes.

Grid Autosport is eagerly awaited by millions of fans from around the world, as Codemasters has promised to implement all the feedback it received after last year's Grid 2 and deliver the experience it should have in the first place.

After offering plenty of details about the game itself, the studio has now confirmed on its website what DLC plans it has for the racing experience.

First up, PC owners will get a day-one add-on right on launch day this week, in the form of an HD texture pack that's free and completely optional. Those who want the highest quality experience should consider it, as it includes textures at a 4K resolution.

In terms of actual brand new content, Codemasters has once again emphasized that it's listened to fans and will deliver DLC in two distinct ways.

First up, there are the car packs, which include new vehicles for the game that will enrich the already solid roster of sportscars and machines.

"Car packs are exactly how you’d imagine, they include new cars for the game and we’ve currently got three of these planned. Integration of the car packs is something that we know is hugely important to you, and through the feedback you’ve given us we’re confident that you won’t have any issues with mismatched compatibility. If you have a car pack and a friend doesn’t, you’ll still be able to race together and more importantly, see each other’s cars."

Besides these regular car packs, Codemasters also plans to launch three mini expansions that feature different themes and include new locations, cars, and even game modes.

"The mini-expansions will each include a selection of new locations, some will include new cars and in some cases new game modes entirely. Each mini-expansion will also bring with it a brand new addition to the single player experience, so while you’ll be able to take your new content online, you’ll also be able to play it offline."

The studio is set to detail all these DLC packs in the following weeks or months, but you can make sure you get them by buying a special Season Pass on PC or PS3.

Grid Autosport is out tomorrow, June 24, in North America and on June 27 in Europe, for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
