Grey Goo might be one of the best real-time strategy games launched this year. Although it's too early to say that it's really the best, it's obvious that there's a lack of games in this genre.

That, along with the Petroglyph's pedigree and you have the recipe for success. Petroglyph Games is well known for games like Star Wars: Empire at War, Guardian of Graxia and Rise of Immortals, so Grey Goo could not be too far off.

In fact, Grey Goo may be the best game in Petroglyph's portfolio if we are to take into consideration how it's been received on Steam.

Long story short, it only took a few hours for Grey Goo to grab number one spot on top-sellers list on Steam. Considering the game costs no less than €45.99, Grey Goo's achievement is even more impressive.

But what exactly is Grey Goo? Well, think of a mix of Command & Conquer 3 and StarCraft. However, you shouldn't compare it with either of them in particular, but taken as a whole Grey Goo has elements from both of them.

The RTS game combines “classic strategy mechanics and a balanced combat system with an emphasis on large-scale decision-making,” says developer.

The game features both single- and multiplayer modes

Depending on your play style, you will be taking control of one of the three unique factions: Humans, Beta and Goo. Besides the single-player campaign, the game also features Local Area Network play (no Internet required), bus also online multiplayer.

Moreover, Grey Goo also comes with a map editor and support for Steam Workshop, so there's plenty of action if you're into RTS games.

Before making your purchase, though, make sure your rig meets the recommended requirements to play Grey Goo. You can find the game available on Steam right now, so if you can afford it, by all means give it a try.
