The game has a rather useful glitch, to say the least - unlocking characters without spending points

Gamers can take their hockey game on the road and play anytime, anywhere with Gretzky NHL for the PSP handheld entertainment system. Officially licensed by the NHL and NHLPA, Gretzky NHL for the PSP features fast-paced skating, precision passing, bone-jarring checks and players that convey the power and emotion of their sport.

To challenge the skill levels of all hockey videogame fans, Gretzky NHL for the PSP offers the Gretzky Challenge with unlockable, playable Gretzkys from his days as an Edmonton Oiler, Los Angeles King or New York Ranger. Additionally, hockey fans can play a quick game in either Quick Start or Exhibition Mode, act as owners in Season Mode, or compete locally against friends or other hockey fans in head-to-head play via wireless multiplayer connectivity.

controls and an enhanced presentation with the fast, fluid, hard-hitting intensity of arcade style play, Gretzky NHL for the PSP delivers the look, feel and passion of hockey and provides gamers with a true-to-life simulation.

Gameplay Hints

Gretzky challenge: Hidden goals:

Perfect season (500 points): Win all games in a season either 29 or 82 games in length.
90% face off win percentage (100 points): In a single game win 90% of the face offs.
3 Hattricks in a game (250 points): Get 9 goals with one player in a single game.
250 shots on goal (150 points): Get 250 shot on goal in a single game.

Glitches

Unlock characters without spending points:
Note: This was done in season mode, but may also work in other game modes. You must already have points with which you can unlock players. In season mode, go to the unlockables section and unlock the player you wish to use. When leaving the screen, do not save the Gretzkey Challenge Data. Then, draft the player you unlocked to the team of your choice and save your season.

Then, go back to the Gretzky challenge section and load up your old Gretzkey Challenge stats (or you can just reboot the PSP). You will have your points back, and the player you unlocked will still be shown as locked. However, he will still be on your team roster. If you are not in season mode, instead of saving your season, save your Pro Manager information. Basically the only time when you want to save your Gretzkey Challenge stats is when you earn new points.
