Today’s Android-based devices can be purchased at price tags starting under $100, but it seems that it’s quite hard to put a limit to how expensive they could be.

With the right materials inside, an Android smartphone could easily cost $1,800 (€1,300/£1,100), and the new Gresso Radical has arrived to confirm that.

The phone was unveiled with a titanium body at exactly the aforementioned price tag, though three different options are available for those interested in buying it.

This is the cheapest of them all, with a simple titanium case, with titanium logo. At $2,300 (€1,700/£1,400), the other models offer an 18k yellow gold and titanium chassis, and an 18k white gold and titanium setup.

In addition to the highly expensive outer case, the smartphone features a 1.2GHz quad-core processor inside, as well as a 4.5-inch touchscreen that can deliver a 960 x 540 pixels resolution, and which is protected by Gorilla Glass.

At the same time, the mobile phone comes with an 8-megapixel camera on the back, as well as with Google’s Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system loaded on top, as pocket-lint reports. Furthermore, the smartphone packs 32GB of internal memory, and with dual-SIM card support.

The new mobile phone measures 138 х 69 х 12 mm and weighs 219 grams. It comes with a 12 months warranty.

Apparently, Gresso produced only 999 units of the new Gresso Radical smartphone, which means that those interested in grabbing one should hurry up, before they are gone.

Gresso also plans on bringing the new mobile phone at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next month, to showcase it to the world.

“The case and the back cover are executed from titanium grade 5 widely used in aerospace industry. Manually polished titanium Gresso logo. Titanium sensor keys. Manually assembled,” Gresso explains on its website. More info on the smartphone can be found there.
