Chronic Dev Team member Joshua Hill (@p0sixninja) has confirmed the Greenpois0n (iOS 4.1 jailbreak) launch date. The tool is coming this Sunday, October 10, at 10:10:10 AM, according to his tweet.

“Things have progressed to the point where we don't expect anymore roadblocks. ETA for greenpois0n is 10/10/10 at 10:10:10AM,” the hacker’s exact words are.

According to a report by 9to5mac, the jailbreak will be available for iPad, iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4th generation. However, according to TUAW, greenpois0n is expected to work on "newer iOS 4.1 devices," which also includes the refreshed Apple TV.

For their part, members of the iPhone Dev Team are focused on delivering a reliable jailbreak for the second-generation Apple TV, the iOS-based set-top box from Apple.

PwnageTool will be updated soon to include the code to leverage the SHAtter exploit found last month by a guy going by the screen name of @pod2g.

Last month, the Team said: “It’s confirmed…SHAtter can trick Apple’s new AppleTV 2G into restoring to a pre-jailbroken IPSW from PwnageTool too! Literally the only UI application on the ATV is Lowtide.app, but now the window is open for jailbroken apps of all varieties.”

The hackers added that the only apps users will see on the Apple TV will be jailbroken ones, “just like the early iPhone days.”

Softpedia doesn't encourage jailbreaking / unlocking the iPhone / iPod touch / iPad / Apple TV, or any other device.

This article has a purely informational purpose and doesn't, in any way, suggest that you should hack your Apple device.

If you choose to download and install jailbreak tools, you will do so at your own risk. Unlocking / jailbreaking your iPhone / iPod touch / iPad / Apple TV may violate your warranty or the EULA with Apple and / or your cellular-service provider.
