Greenpoison 1.0 RC6 has been released to support the second-generation Apple TV (or iOS 4.1.1), providing what is known as an ‘untethered’ jailbreak for the set-top box. The jailbreak also installs the NitoTV app.

Whether or not Chronic Dev knows anything about an iPad 2G, the team seems keen to specify that Greenpois0n 1.0 RC6 is targeted at first-generation iPads.

According to the Chronic Dev Team, the folks behind Greenpois0n, version 1.0 RC6 supports iPod Touch 2G (all bootroms); iPod Touch 3G; iPod Touch 4G; iPad 1G; iPhone 3Gs (all bootroms); iPhone 4; iPhone 4 Verizon; and Apple TV 2.

The changelog reads:

- RC6: Apple TV 2 support, fixed emulators compatibility issues with greenpois0n - RC5.4: Verizon iPhone 4 is now supported!

Requirements include a supported device, while the device should run iOS 4.2.1 (4.2.6 for iPhone 4 Verizon). Users are told to check on the device in the Settings -> General -> About page.

If your device is running an older version, jailbreakers must upgrade iOS first using iTunes. If you want to SIM Unlock, preserve your baseband using TinyUmbrella (iPhone 4 only) or PwnageTool, Chronic Dev outlines.

Other requirements include at least MacOSX 10.5 (OSX in a virtual machine won't work, Chronic Dev says), and a working internet connection.

Chronic Dev also notes that if the device is already jailbroken with the iPhone Dev Team's Monte, users must first restore the device using iTunes.

If Cydia doesn't show up after Loader, you may need to reboot the device, Chronic Dev adds.

Finally, this version of greenpois0n doesn't include a patched activation system. Users will need to activate their device using iTunes.

This article has a purely informational purpose and doesn't, in any way, suggest that you should hack your Apple device.

Using hacks may render your device unusable, or may reduce the quality of your experience employing the respective device.

If you choose to download and install jailbreak tools, you will do so at your own risk. Unlocking / jailbreaking your iPhone / iPod touch / iPad / Apple TV may violate your warranty or the EULA with Apple and / or your cellular-service provider.
