While Shell is getting ready to debut a new drilling campaign in the Arctic, Greenpeace members are keeping busy trying to come up with new ways to protest the oil company's working agenda.

Inhabitat tells us that, not very long ago, the environmentalists asked Christopher Kelly to piece together a ginormous polar bear using nothing but reclaimed ship parts and recycled materials.

When finished, the puppet, whose name is Aurora, will be roughly the size of a double-decker bus, the same source reports.

More precisely, it will be about 41 feet (12.5 meters) long and 16 feet (4.87 meters) tall.

The activists plan to parade it around London with the help of several pulleys and some 15 puppeteers, and pass by some of the city's most well-known landmarks.

The polar bear's final destination will be Shell's headquarters on the South Bank.

Commenting on this project, environmentalist Sara Ayech said that, “What happens to the Arctic does not stay in the Arctic. If we allow our addiction to dirty fossil fuel to destroy this region, we’re all going to pay the price for it.”

“We need to get this message to oil companies like Shell before it’s too late, and show them that the world is watching,” she added.

Aurora will be paraded around London this coming September 15, at 12:00 local time. Those who wish to accompany the puppet on its stroll can sign up here.
