E-readers really seem to be getting their affordability boots on, as the new item from Greenbook has a very low price, even in its touch-enable form, though availability is still a way off.

Greenbook may not yet be ready to start shipping the EZRead e-reader, but that doesn't mean it can't spend some quality time raising hype.

After all, when one has a gadget of this sort that sells for as little as $75 (54.73 Euro, give or take), it only makes sense that a heads-up is in order.

Indeed, while it does not possess the convenience of touch input support, the Greenbook EZRead, as it is called, sells for only $75.

One need not fear, though, as the company has also prepared a touch-enabled model, called EZRead Touch and priced at $95 (69.33 Euro, give or take).

Neither was actually sent out, though at least pre-orders are possible, via e-mail, or so the press release says.

For people who want to make an informed decision when buying either of the above, the spec sheets are more or less identical (minus touch/lack of touch of course).

For instance, the physical size is of 114.1 x 166.6 x 10 mm, or 4.5 x 6.5 x 0.40 inches, respectively. This means a display diagonal of 6 inches.

Also, the Freescale iMX508 processor (800 MHz) lies at the heart of everything, backed by 128 MB of RAM and powered by a 1,500 mAh battery.

Additionally, Greenbook threw in 2 GB of built-in flash storage, the obligatory microSD card slot (for extra capacity addition), a micro USB port and wireless connectivity (WiFi).

Go here to see what books will be available to read on the device once sales actually kick off (the Taiwanese site is here).

Greenbook intends for the item to reach global availability as soon as possible.
