The notorious "Green River Killer," Gary Ridgway, has admitted to killing 75 to 80 people, which is dozens more than the 49 murders he has been convicted for.

"You can’t go back and change the past; it’s over with. [...] All we can do is try to make it better," the serial killer notes.

He is currently serving his time in Washington State penitentiary, which means 49 consecutive life sentences. After he was apprehended, he took officers on a trip to show where he had hid the bodies.

He has talked to Komo News about missing some burial spots in his first run-around with police. He explained officers only letting him point to the spots, and not allowing him to leave the squad car.

"They should have had me get out at every site to show them where I put those bodies. [...] If I could do it all over again, I would say I want to get out at every single site," he says.

He described leaving the vehicle just three or four times at the 20 locations he showed police. He has talked to a former military investigator to help him find the missing bodies.

Ridgway claims to have found God and he is sorry for the harm he has caused. He is helped by investigator Rob Fitzgerald, who explains that he has been looking for the victims for five years.

"The victim’s family gets closure; they get to know what happened to their daughter, for certain. [...] If we can find anything and they can get closure and say, 'We have our daughter back,' it means everything to me," he says.

"I want people to bury their daughters," he said. "Whatever that price is, I’m going to have to pay it. I can’t stop now,” Fitzgerald adds.
