The National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium in Pingtung County, Southern Taiwan was recently accused of pretty much torturing the whale shark it is supposed to be looking after.

According to the green groups who have taken it to themselves to free this animal, the whale shark living at said facility has very little space at its disposal.

As they explain, its being forced to live in a rather small tank is likely to take its toll on its health and ultimately lead to its dying at a rather young age. Sources report that these animal rights activists even went as far as to claim that, back in 2007, one other shark living at this aquarium passed away following its becoming ill, and that the conditions in which it was forced to live were the ones to blame for this incident.

The people in charge of running the aquarium maintain that the animal is to be set free as soon as another one is brought in.

However, the conservationists hope that the facility will agree to drop the practice of displaying such animals altogether.
