Over the weekend, at the iHeart Radio Music Festival, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day had a very unusual, extremely foul-mouthed outburst onstage. He’s now apologizing for it and announcing he’s going to rehab.

Video of the entire meltdown is here, but *please note that it contains graphic language that may offend.

According to reports online, and Billie himself, his fit was caused by hearing the Green Day set at the 2-day festival had been cut down to half the initially allotted time to make room for Usher to perform.

When organizers announced that Green Day had another minute to go, Billie blew a fuse and ended up smashing his guitar, throwing his mic and storming off stage in a flurry of F-words.

In a statement to TMZ, a publicist for the band announces that Armstrong will be seeking professional help at a rehabilitation clinic. The rep doesn’t say exactly what the star is being treated for.

“Green Day wants to apologize to those they offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas,” the publicist says in the statement.

“The band regretfully must postpone some of their upcoming promotional appearances,” he adds.

Other media outlets got a bit more details, including a mention that the band no longer believes the organizers cut their gig short to make room for Usher.

As the video linked above will confirm, Armstrong’s outburst was truly a sight to behold.

Not only did he try to convince organizers that he deserved better than what they were giving him because he’d been in the industry for so long, but he also slammed Justin Bieber, out of all people.

“I'm not Justin Bieber, you mother[expletive]-ers! You gotta be [expletive]-ing joking. I got one minute, one minute left. Now I got nothing left. Let me show you what one minute [expletive]-ing means,” Armstrong yelled, right before smashing his guitar on the ground.
