Yesterday, July 25, MTV announced the nominations for the 2005 Video Music Award. Apparently, Green Day received nominations in eight categories, including Video Of The Year, for "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams".

Gwen Stefani for "What You Waiting For?" and rap artist Missy Elliott, with "Lose Control" received six nominations, while U2 won five. Coldplay's "Speed Of Sound," the Killers' "Mr. Brightside," My Chemical Romance's "Helena," and U2's "Vertigo" got four nominations a piece.

The event will be hosted on August 28 by P. Diddy, who promised it will be one hot show and will include scene-stealing stunts and lots of sex appeal, like in the past. "One word - hot," said P. Diddy. "It's hot out here, and it's going to be hot at the show."

"I'm going to tell the artists that if you want to get naked and run across the stage, go ahead and do it," P. Diddy added. "I'm not going to do teleprompter reading and corny jokes."

Mogul P. Diddy also confessed that he will reveal his new name in time for the upcoming VMA. He teases, "There will be an announcement two weeks from now to clarify what's going on with my name."

And, for the first time, the Video Music Awards will be scored with original music composed by Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park and hip-hop producer Lil Jon.
