The incredible video below shows the terrifying moment when a great white shark approached an inflatable boat carrying a crew of filmmakers and started munching on it.

A team of wildlife documentary filmmakers from MaxAnimal Productions were reportedly shooting for their YouTube channel off the coast of South Africa when the giant shark swam up to their boat and attacked it, the Huffington Post informs.

The members of the crew could do nothing to prevent the animal from destroying their small vessel, so they just stood and watched in terror as the shark chewed into the rubber edges of the boat. As you can see in the video, the predator took a good chunk out of the side and the boat started to deflate.

“Why does a rubber inflatable boat sink in the ocean? Because a great white shark has just taken a chunk out of it!” MaxAnimal wrote in the video's caption.

They also assured viewers that the attack was “completely unprovoked,” adding that both the shark and the members of the crew escaped unharmed from the incident.

Although the great white sharks are some of the most dangerous creatures of the sea, experts who watched the footage say it's unlikely this specimen was interested in attacking the crew, claiming that it was probably curious as to what the boat was.
