Rockstar Games has released Grand Theft Auto: iFruit version 5.0, an updated version of the companion app for GTA V on iOS devices. From the looks of the reviews on iTunes, the update is a bad seed.

iFruit is a sidekick app for iOS devices that “hooks directly into your experience of Grand Theft Auto V with some fun activities to further postpone the need for real social interaction,” according to Rockstar Games.

The free app lets you stay in the loop with GTA V news, has a UI for the Rockstar Games Social Club, LifeInvader, and other Rockstar apps. The Los Santos Customs app allows players to create their custom vehicle in Grand Theft Auto V, with the ability to choose from paint jobs, window tints, smoke colors, wheels, hoods, and spoilers.

Version 5.0 reportedly lands some “bug fixes and updates for Grand Theft Auto Online,” which should normally please a lot of users. However, going by some of the latest customer reports, this has been the worst update yet.

A quick trip to the iTunes Store reveals that Grand Theft Auto: iFruit has more one-star ratings than all other ratings combined, which makes you wonder how on earth is Rockstar not able to maintain this app seven months after its debut?

“The update completely broke the app,” reads the latest review posted on the app’s iTunes page. “Crashes within two seconds of opening the app,” this person adds.

Another complaint filed on April 13 reads, “I try zooming out to see everything and it won’t let me, please fix soon I use this app allot [sic], thanks.”

A customer identified as Von poozle is more vocal, saying, “Rockstar I really hope you’re not making anymore [sic] games or apps please. Every update tends to ruin the game/app everytime [sic]. Does anyone remember when Rockstar cared?! Am deleting this and prob gonna sell the game.”

No you’re not, Von poozle, and you know it. GTA V is too epic to just hand over to someone else just because the iOS companion app doesn’t play ball.

Many other customers have similar complaints following the April 11 release of GTA: iFruit 5.0, so be wary of this update if you’re unsure if you need it or not. Chances are it will ruin your experience.

Nevertheless, you can download Grand Theft Auto: iFruit 5.0 right now if you’re feeling lucky. You can even return and whine in the comments, just remember that you’ve been warned.
