The large retailer doesn't expect to sell GTA V this year

Large games retailer GameStop has just shared its financial earnings over the weekend, and during his talk with investors, President Tony Bartel said that the company had no knowledge concerning Grand Theft Auto V’s release date, although it estimated that it would arrive sometime in 2013.

Grand Theft Auto V was officially unveiled by Rockstar Games last year, with an impressive trailer but, since then, the developer hasn’t revealed anything else about the game, not even a possible release date.

After hearing quite a few analysts talk about GTA V, retailer GameStop has shared its view on the future game, confirming that it’s not part of the titles it hopes to sell in 2012.

According to president Tony Bartel, a lot of big games will be put on sale at GameStop throughout the current year, including Borderlands 2, Halo 4, Assassin’s Creed III, Resident Evil 6, Max Payne 3, Prototype 2, Ghost Recon: Future Solider, FIFA 13, NCAA Football 13, Madden NFL 13, and even a new Call of Duty title.

However, the retailer doesn’t expect to place Grand Theft Auto V on its shelves.

"In terms of GTAV, we don't have followed information that we can share at this point so we have not put that into our forecast. We would adjust our estimate if we had knowledge that GTA was coming out [in 2012]," he told investors during the earnings call, via GameSpot.

This reinforces the fact that we may not see GTA V this year, even if Rockstar has always made a habit of releasing games shortly after it presents a full-fledged trailer for them.

Given the company’s constant strive for perfection, however, you can be sure that the time before its release will be put to good use.

Rockstar previously revealed that it would share more details about GTA V in the coming months so, until something official appears, we’ll just have to keep on waiting.
